Its Ask Orkin cost page (checked 27 July 2026) states that "quotes and estimates for the cost of bed bug control are best done locally and perhaps after an inspection by a qualified Pest Specialist." Terminix's bed bug cost page, updated February 2026, works the same way: it explains what drives the price — infestation size, square footage, building type, treatment method — and names no dollar amount, ending in a free-inspection request.

That is a defensible way to price the work. Bed bug jobs genuinely differ by room count, severity and construction, and few companies of any size will commit to a firm number sight unseen. The practical consequence for you is simply that the first number you hear arrives during a sales visit, with no reference point to compare it against — Forbes, in its own cost guide, notes that free inspections in this industry are offered to attract new business. Orkin itself publishes no prices, and none of these numbers is an offer.

The most useful single datapoint is the 2024 Pennsylvania report: a landlord wrote that Orkin "stated it would be $500 per room in which there a 6 and that it includes 3 treatments" — about $3,000 for the six rooms. • About 1.3× on heat (2023). A homeowner reported a Terminix quote of $1,950 for heat plus a chemical follow-up. The same year, a homeowner in Arizona reported paying about $1,500 — roughly $1 per sq ft — for a whole-home heat job by a local company. Different homes in different states, so treat it as indicative only.
• About 3× at the extreme (2023). The $15,000 Oklahoma City heat quote above, against our modeled $4,000–5,300 for that footprint and state.
• And one comparison with no premium at all. The reported Pennsylvania rate of $500 per room including three treatments sits inside our modeled per-room chemical band of $350–650. On routine per-room chemical work, the reported brand figure was ordinary market pricing.

So the premium is real in our data but uneven, and it shows up most on large heat and whole-home jobs rather than on per-room chemical work. None of this says brand technicians do worse work — a national price also carries advertising, call centers, branch overhead and a guarantee someone else has to honor. The practical point is that a brand quote is worth checking against a local-market number, and the only reliable way to do that is a competing quote for your own home.

When a national brand is worth the premium

• A network-backed service agreement. Re-treatment terms honored by a branch network, not a single crew — useful if follow-ups stretch over months.

2. Ask how many visits the price includes. $500 per room with three treatments included is a different product than $500 for one pass. Chemical work almost always takes 2–4 visits.
3. Get the re-treatment window in writing. Ask for 60–90 days of free re-treatment and for who decides whether the treatment worked.
4. Clarify what counts as a room — whether adjacent rooms must be treated, and what prep, clutter or furniture surcharges may be added.
5. Collect competing local quotes. In a 2025 discussion weighing Orkin against a local professional, the local contractor quoted $1,200 for one room of heat treatment, and whole-home heat-plus-spray packages ran $3,000–4,000. Spreads like that only surface with multiple quotes.

Terminix bed bug treatment cost

Terminix does publish a dedicated bed bug cost page, unlike Orkin — but it lists no dollar amounts either. The $450 and $1,950 figures come from the same 2023 discussion — chemical-only versus heat with a chemical follow-up — which is why "what does Terminix cost" has no single answer: the treatment plan drives the price more than the brand does.

Two homeowner accounts from that data are worth reading as questions to ask rather than as conclusions about the company. In a 2023 thread, a commenter wrote: "I paid $1633. They put encasements on and sprayed that's all. After months of still seeing them and months of them spraying" — and per that same account, roughly $2,000 of further work was proposed afterwards. We cannot verify the exchange, and one account is not a pattern; what it does illustrate is a structural risk with any cheap chemical entry price, from any company.
